The City of Lucedale has an outstanding government on the local level. It is made up of a Mayor and five Aldermen. Four Aldermen are elected from their perspective Wards and one is elected at large. The Mayor is also elected at large. Each of these offices are four-year concurrent terms. Lucedale is fortunate that it’s governing body exercises strong leadership qualities and believes that the dream for Lucedale should always be that of building a better tomorrow starts with the elected officials on the local level of government.

What makes the City of Lucedale with a population of 2,458 thrive while others its size seem to wither and become dependent on larger cities? It is credited to innovative leadership and citizens who have made it their home.

The City of Lucedale is fortunate to have an excellent trained police department, which consist of 17 employees. The department is headed by a Chief of Police, has an Investigator, and a Public Relations Officer. Our Fire Department is staffed with a Fire Chief, two full-time firemen, and eighteen volunteer firemen. It is fully operational 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
